WHAT IS SASHING?
Sashing is the fabric in between t-shirt panels.
WHAT IS A PANEL?
A panel is the square that your t-shirt is cut into for the quilt. It will showcase the graphic.
WHAT SIZE IS THE PANEL?
A panel can be a variety of sizes though the most common size is 14" square. This is the maximum size and will accommodate an extra large illustration. Sizing can go as small as 10" square and every size in between.
DO I USE THE FRONT OR THE BACK OF THE T-SHIRT?
You can use either OR both. Each side of the t-shirt is counted as ONE panel.
CAN I USE SPORTS JERSEYS?
YES! We can utilize every version of sports jersey you have.
WHAT ELSE CAN I USE IN MY MEMORY QUILT?
We can incorporate sweatshirts, towels, baby blankets, pillow cases, pajama pants, shopping bags . . . you name it! A favorite is the use of a men's tie on a button down shirt! So, if it's fabric, you can use it in a memory quilt.
LET'S TALK BITS & PIECES.
I have learned that many t-shirts also incorporate small logo's, unique patch pockets, even special messages on the sleeve or hem. I like to use these on the quilt. They really add character and interest. A maximum of 5 can be included free of charge. Beyond that, there is an extra charge of $10.00/5 patches.
HOW MANY T-SHIRTS DO I NEED FOR A TWIN BED?
A twin mattress is 39"x75". Depending on how covered you want the bed to be, you should look at the sizes 12, 16, or 20 panel. I suggest you refer to the products page which will give you approximate dimensions of the finished quilt sizes.
SO, WHERE DO I START?
Start by going through your t-shirts and come up with all the possible candidates for a quilt. Give a count to the number of fronts and backs that you wish to use. Then, give me a call. We will talk through the process from there.
WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE OF SCOTTSDALE, AZ?
Not a problem! You can mail me the t-shirts. We will talk when I get them to clarify your order. When the quilt is finished, it will be mailed back to you. There is a shipping fee, starting at $30.00.
HOW DOES ALL THIS WORK?
Once you have selected your t-shirts, we will determine what size and style quilt you wish. I require a $100.00 deposit on all orders. A detailed order invoice will be emailed to you confirming your order, delivery date, design and balance for your quilt. And, most importantly, DO NOT CUT THE T-SHIRTS!! I know some companies ask you to do this but I prefer you leave the cutting to me.
